How it all began...
In the beginning... there was football. Edwin Agaba, noticing that children in his neighborhood had few opportunities for social activities, bought a ball and started a game of football. The children came flocking, excited to play with a new ball. Their enthusiasm convinced Edwin to do it again the next week, and it soon became a weekly community activity.
Inspired by the positive changes he saw in the attitudes of the children and their parents, in 2009 Edwin founded Children Reach Out Uganda, a community-based organization that uses sports, education, arts, and skills to empower children in low-income neighborhoods. The project focuses on bringing together all children in the community and supporting those whose development is at risk, socially. Today, Children Reach Out Uganda provides free classes, workshops and activities at three urban centres in Kampala.
